Never have I ever had any problems when it comes to waxing my eyebrows and about a year ago I switched from regular wax (such as the wax product that comes with gigi225, you apply it with the popsicle stick and they remove it with wax strips) and started going to a spa that uses strip less hard wax.

Before I left for my New Years vacation, something came up and I had to cancel my eyebrow appointment with my regular spa and had to go to someone else due to the scarce availability. The type of wax being used never crossed my mind because I had used each type before and I figured it wouldn't be a problem.
As I arrived at the salon where I had to get my eyebrows done, my friend and I were discussing if I was allergic to certain types of wax and I quickly answered no since I had never come across this problem in the past. This said, I got my eyebrows done using wax removed by the wax strips rather than hard wax, and I continued my day.

wax

As usual, my eyebrows were red and had a few bumps among them but nothing happened differently than when I usually get them done. Little did I know what I was in for. As the day went on, the bumps turned into clearly what can be considered an allergic reaction and they didn’t go away. Just in time for my brothers birthday party and new years two days away, I broke out where the wax on my face was. Besides the fact that this was completely ironic, I realized that once my skin was used to one type of wax, it was and is not a good idea to switch to a different type.

I suggest that everyone takes this into consideration because those extra few bumps/pimples that have arrived on my face due to the type of wax are definitely inconvenient and unnecessary considering I could have avoided them. I think that everyone should keeps this in mind when changing spas or having to go on an “emergency eyebrow wax appointment” because I know at times, we will all go anywhere just to fix our brows…..

with that said…

have a great and safe new years and may everyone be healthy and happy!

About this author

After two intense years at a community college I have transferred to UCLA. I took the high school proficiency exam and left high school at the age of 16 with a plan to attend community college and transfer. Now that I have reached my goal I have began a new chapter in my life. I have moved out, away from my tight-knit family, to Los Angeles where I have started my new journey. I’ve impressed myself in that I am surviving in LA…considering I thought I wouldn’t like it. Turns out—I love LA—I love my friends, and most importantly I love the education I am getting. I have obtained in AA in sociology and I am continuing to get my Masters in Sociology and Education. After I reach that goal, I plan to go to grad school…but that is still a few years ahead of me…so for now, my goal is my masters.
