The Power of Your Words and Your Physiology

Fabulously 40!
Doesn't just saying those 2 words make you feel FABULOUS? I sure do! My best friend's voicemail ends with "Have a FAAAAABBBBBUUUULOUS Day!" and you know what? I love hearing it because it puts a little kick in my day! Sometimes, I hope she doesn't answer the phone because I LOVE hearing her message!
When I was first asked to be an expert for Fabulously40 I was so honored because I truly believe this is the most amazing time in our lives.
We are so blessed to have so many wonderful role models who continue to step into their gifts and discover more of who they are and how they share their gifts with other women.
I thought I would give you a little exercise to do over the next few weeks.
The first exercise has to do with the words we use. Specifically, the words we use to describe life and ourselves. Words are very powerful, so ensure the words you use are empowering.
First part: Fill in the blank: Life is ____________. Is Life a Dance? Is Life a Gift? A Struggle? Hard? Challenging? An Adventure? A blessing? Whatever words you used to describe Life…..think about how that shows up in your life.
Do you think someone would have a totally different experience if one person said her life was a gift and another women said life was a struggle? Totally different experiences I promise you! So what is life to you?
Now think about yourself. How do you describe yourself? In order to feel your best, you have to “assume the physiology of when you feel your best, maybe you are not “quite there” but the way you move is just as powerful as the words you use. When I turned forty, I came up with this incantation that I say every day “I am a fit, foxy, fabulously 40, endurance vixen.” I have been saying these words every day for the past 3 years and how amazing that I would be a featured writer for Fabulously 40! Now I can’t say EVERY DAY I feel fit and foxy and fabulous and full of endurance (especially, since I just had my third child less than 8 months ago) but it sure keeps me going a lot more than “I am an out of shape, exhausted middle age woman” Yicks! Anyway, try it on, have some fun! Please feel free to contact me any time so that I can best support you!

Stay True,
Loren Slocum
