A couple of weeks ago, I asked my computer design students to create art about peace. I first had them read a few different "definitions" of peace online and encouraged them to think of examples of peace in their lives, in their community and our nation. The artwork they produced was very individual and unique.. an example of how "Peace" is understood on a personal level to us all.

On my car, on the back window, I have a decal that reads "Peace and Passion". I wonder what people think when they read that. I posted it there because living peace and passion everyday is something I truly believe in and it's a message I enjoy spreading.

To me, living peace means living in a loving and optimistic state of mind. Living with passion means living in the moment, without ego and strife. These two harmonize seriously well with each other when you appreciate the uniqueness, diverseness and divineness of people, nature and the world around you.

It's not about religion and faith, although faith in oneself and others is important. It's about choosing to appreciate, inspire and promote appreciation and inspiration in others.

It's actually quite simple, but the effect is huge.

People who live passionately inspire me on a daily basis. They are brightly shining stars in my eyes and I carry them with me in my life. I wish I could personally thank each and every one of them for they way they touch my soul.

This gratitude inspires beauty and joy and when you feel that beauty and joy within you, you can't help but share it with those around you. Living with love. I'm sure you've felt it in surprising ways during your daily routine, whether from a kind smile, a generous hand, or caring words.

Isn't it John Lennon who said “All you need is love.” ? :)
