The battle of the bulge continues to tickle all of us. While we all try to eat healthy and try to incorporate an exercise plan into our busy lives, many off us fall of the wagon and become depressed when the scale tips in the wrong direction.
Many of you are familiar with Debra Roy’s column Better Every Year. Debra lost over forty pounds by following a sensible diet plan and an exercise regime for the last few years. I’ve been following her column for the last month and somehow along the way, I got hooked. For the last several weeks not only have I been eating healthy, but I’m actually feeling guilty if I miss a day at the gym, or if I don’t log my food.
At this stage of our lives we cannot get any younger, but we can definitely get much stronger. In the last three weeks I have lost six pounds. Six pounds in my book is not a big deal, I can easily lose six pounds a week, and just as easily gain eight in the next few days that follow. My weight fluctuates by seven pounds and leaves me depressed every time I get on that scale which is an addiction that I succumb to every morning. The reason I’m so excited about losing these six pounds is that I think I actually lost some fat and not water weight this time around. Amazingly enough in the last ten days my weight has not fluctuated by more than two pounds and I’m feeling pretty good.

I’ve also noticed that I require less sleep. Now what does that really mean to me when I don’t sleep much? It means that now when I sleep the same six hours that I’ve been doing since we launched Fabulously40, I don’t feel as tired and cranky. Even our web development team noticed, and made a comment.

Debra reinforces that We Are What We Eat:
She is not shy in reminding us that fat isn’t going anywhere until we do something about it such as cardio workouts She emphasizes the importance of weight training as well as stretching and toning because she makes it all very personable and real. With Summer Upon Us I’m ready to try and see if I too can finally pull this off and lose those fifteen pounds that I’ve been trying to shed for the last twenty five years.

Good for you Yana. I also find that if I miss a day at the gym I feel so guilty. But since I have been working out for the last few months I have noticed so many positive changes. Keep it up and keep us posted on your progress. You should be very proud of yourself.
I’m a proud mother of 4 wonderful children and a wife to a wonderful man that I adore.
My oldest daughter is 21 and the youngest 16. As all of my friends began going through all sorts of changes with their bodies and mind with no place to turn to, I took it upon myself to create this community of wonderful women who share the same goals, dreams, issues and fears. If we continue to help one another through exchange of information, nourishment and support, we will own the world.
My goal is to connect women all over the world to communicate with each other so they can experience the same support and guidance as I continue to receive from my girlfriends.
