Although they are speaking of children this could really be put in any context and personalized to fit anyones life. We all get so busy with the day to day that we forget to enjoy daily what life is really about and how we are all blessed in one way or another. I know after readin this that I will hang out with my kids after school and not care about any messes….
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play.
Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles..
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won’t worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won’t stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald’s and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys..
Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.
Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.
Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favourite TV shows.
Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.
I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children’s graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can’t handle it anymore.
And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day…
This was good!

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
BB, funny how we have to have reminders sometimes to stop and smell the roses. Thanks for the reminder today.
Excellent!

All my opinions are in no representation of the company I work for; nor relate to my occupation. It is my opinion & my very humble opinion only. Also FYI, English is my 2nd language.
This was excellent. Sometimes we do need to be reminded that it is okay to enjoy the little ups and downs we encounter. It is good to laugh and keep humor in our lives.
Thanks for sharing!

Geez, Beachy…like I wasn’t already emotional on my last post (your one day question) This one put me over the edge! (and I’m not even pms-ing) Thanks for sharing this and the reminder of what special gifts our kids are. (Even when they‘re college age and driving some of us NUTS!)

Yea I know Peejay… sorry I am feeling weepy today so my answers and blogs will probably reflect that. lol
BB, that is heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time. Taking stock, of what really matters, of whose life is effected by you, that is so super important!
Wow, wheld up with tears on that one.
Our son is in Guatamala right now vacationing with his girlfriend and I can’t wait till he gets home safely. No phone calls to check in for almost a week and I am consumed with just wanting to hear his sweet voice of laughter and to let us know they are having a blast.
They grow up so fast and when they do it seems a bit harder to let go. This is much harder than dropping them off at school on thier first day. I wish I could have just one more of those days back…
Beachbum, I’m not even weepy and this post is getting to me! I had all my children in my 30’s so they‘re still young (four of ‘em, ages 5–12), and so much of what you posted is relevant to me. Just last night my 7-year-old wanted an extra long good night hug and wouldn’t stop kissing me. I still had at least 2 hours of housework to do so my first instinct was to tell him to stop so I could get my work done, but in that instant I thought better of it and gave him all the hugs and kisses he wanted
—the day will come when I’ll be wishing for those days! Thankfully I’m in a place where I realize (more often than not)that the “good old days” with my children are here right now!!
