About me

I was a single Mom for many years. My three children are awesome people with many accomplishments between them. I experienced an intense depression when my youngest left home for college. I am thankful I was able to make it through without meds. (God has been faithful!)

Now I am so excited about life! I’m on the “ME” track and can’t be stopped. I need all the positive I can get from you ladies. I love to log into this site and soak in the strength God gave to women.

    • congrats on the cruise. If you need anything at all with regard to Maui, please let me know. And, if I’m all set up with a proper place to teach my classes by their cruise, that would be a blast!

BTW, the photo is of a very typical graduation ceremony here. The man is my hubby, the headmaster, then the Rocha twins, great kids, and me!

    • My Baby left for College in 2006 and I too went into a depression.  Everyone kept telling me that I could party till the cows came home but I just didn’t feel it.  Now 2 years later I’m finally enjoying the benefits of having all the kids out of the house.  Wow you talk about freedom.  I’ve taken cooking classes and even enrolled back in college.  I’m on hiatus now but I plan on going back in the spring of 09‘.  You go girl now is your time to shine.

    • Hi there

You left a comment yesterday and I wanted to get back to you. I personally don’t travel too much but sometimes I talk a little with some of the visitors to our island. Local people are not always friendly. Sometimes our visitors feel they are being taken advantage or being overpriced for things. That really bothers me. I want people to come here and have the time of their lives. That’s why I always offer to give thoughts and recommendations when I know someone is coming here. Please feel free to use me as a resource if you have clients coming to Maui.

I love macadamia nuts and chocolate too! It’s a great combination. I don’t make toffee but I make a Tahitian vanilla caramel that is kind of like a liquid caramel center for one of my truffles. And, my most popular flavor is my passion fruit. I’m sure in Florida passion fruit is a popular flavor too. It’s so tropical!

    • Wonderful! Thank you chocolatier.
Put me on your e-mail list as agelessarts@yahoo.com and send me a catalog/menu
I’m working on a web site as I write. Rather the tech people are…it should be done and I’m stepping on the gas.

The most important thing for travelers in a place like Hawaii is the opportunity to step away from the tourist beaten path. Your offer to recommend restaurants, sites, even the smallest things that you may take for granted is a golden talon. Thank you! And if you want to send a list to Ageless Arts I’ll keep it and your contact info in my file next to Maui.

    • Hi Parma

Yes, I ship. I’ve been working all morning on my webpage/blog, domain name, yadayada. Being techno challenged, my learning curve is bigger than most.

I had a nice, small but growing business in Washington state and then I met my husband. I moved to Maui, kept my customers on the mainland, hence the shipping and grew a very nice but still small list of customers here. I’m now working on going online, developing an e-mail list, blogging and, hopefully, causing a new growth spurt for my chocolates.

If you have clients coming to Maui, please use me as a resource. I can check out destinations, make recommendations for activities and restaurants and generally, I’ll be honest here, prevent your clients from being taken advantage of in a competitive tourist market.

We have something here called the coconut wireless. This island is like a small town. Reputation, good or bad, spreads like cane fire.

I’m happy to help in any way I can so your clients come home happy, rested and ready for you to book their next excursion!
      Regards
      Cynthia

    • Dear Ladybug,

When you say you're going to do something, I BELIEVE YOU!  And I support you 100%.  I had a friend in high school who focused all her energies on the task at hand.  In math class, she focused on math; in track, she focused on track, etc... this may seem obvious but no, it's a gift.  You seem to have this focus.  As adults, what we focus on takes more energy, career, family, etc.  I'm looking forward to hearing more about your pursuits for you.  I'm excited for you.

You mentioned to me that your daughter sings classical – one thing I know about classical singers, they are smart cookies.  Obviously, her ambitions are proving this.  If she gets terribly stressed on her quest through medical school, remind her that she will always be a singer.  There IS no better or faster way to relieve stress and it is such a replenishing art.

I look forward to watching your journey unfold.  happy

      Take care, Karen
