    • Vgirl,

Thank you for adding me to your list of friends.

I too am working on my writing techniques. One of the things I have been doing is taking on-line classes at:

      http://www.ed2go.com/

Currently taking Research Methods for Writers, which after the first class is proving to be a great choice for me.

I also signed up for The Craft of Magazine Writing that begins Nov. 12th.

The courses are 6 weeks long, two classes each week and run approx. $89. You have 8 weeks to finish which gives you time to get the final exam in to receive your certificate for taking the course. I feel that it’s a good investment.

Looking to get to know you better.
      Rikki

    • Your courage and wisdom to take care of yourself and leave a 30-year marriage are admirable.  I hope that you are giving yourself permission for some additional self-care…some pampering and celebrating if you will.  You deserve it.  Actually, regardless of what you do, you are already deserving!

I’d like to tell you about my experience regarding your other goal….to be published in a magazine or in a small book.  I recently co-authored a book titled “Your Life Your Way: The Essential Guide for Women“. My co-author Lynnn Hull and I had no idea how to write a book or publish it—we were clueless.  What worked for us was to connect with our passion which was to get a message out to other women that midlife is a perfect time to design life your way.  It was the emotion that kept us moving forward through many obstacles.

The same approach may work for you.  If you haven’t already, I encourage you to get very clear on what you are passionate about, what you want others to know.  Write it down in any way that comes to mind. When you have clarity and have it written in a way that resonates with you, read it several times a day.  Use it to pull you forward.

The other piece that worked for us is that we never looked more than a step or two ahead.  If we had started thinking too much about “how” we were going to get to the end of the project, we never would have.  When it was time to take the next step, we always found our way—it took some time and we did it!

Best wishes to you….believe it will happen and it will!
