I love them all! But Meritage and Malbec are wonderful along with a luscious Chardonnay.
I like Sauvignon Blanc because is unpretentious, and you do not have to worry about its age…. Also it has a subtle bouquet and it’s an easy food pair companion
Try it sometimes!
Pinot Noir is my favorite red. Some of the Cabs are too heavy for me right now and seem to bring on night sweating. I, however, occasionally like to indulge in a nice chateauneuf du pape. I tasted this variety for the first time at a girls night out supper and our host made a wonderful Italian dish with pasta and whole lobsters cooked in a huge vat of pasta sauce! Music to this little Sicilian girl’s ears! She used some of this wine in the sauce and served us glasses of it with dinner. Delish!
Silver Oak cabernet sauvignon.
Enough to make me return to drinking. Good thing its out of my price range.
I don’t actually have A favorite. I drink both reds and whites. Probably Merlot for reds and Gewurztraminer for whites. It is wonderful living so close to several California wine appellations. We have friends that pour at a fabulous Lodi Winery and are members at a great local winery.
But, to be honest, Charles Shaw (2 buck Chuck) will do in a pinch ;) Last night, I tried their new White Zinfandel. Not bad for a summer “picnic” wine. We also like their Cab.
I love reds especially the Barolos but in the summer they make me sweat, here in Miami the best thing for a very hot night is a very cold glass of white wine. I enjoy Pinot Grigio or anythng that is very dry and always champagne.
I love the reds. Cabernet is my favorite. I haven’t found a red that I don’t like. Of late, I’ve been trying some of the lesser mentioned reds, Tempranillo, Carmenere, Old vine Zinfandel.
Thank you everyone.
I am attending the Virginia Wine Showccase this weekend and I tried a wonderful Chambourcin…
chilled and unchilled….

Elderberry wine..,. it’s so good! Sweet and not to bossy like some of the dry wines!
I love Rieslings, too. My favorite is Messina Hoff Angel Riesling. We always take bottles with us on vacation and sip on the patio overlooking the beach.
I am a fan of Rieslings but from Alsace I like Trimbacha. Unlike the rest of the Rieslings the Alsace wine is less sweet and a bit more dry. I like it with sushi and spicy foods.
Cabernet is my favorite, merlot is a close second. Every now and again I enjoy a white wine and those would be Chardonnay and Reisling.
Lisa
What we order most…..
Frog’s Leap Cabernet
Jordan Cabernet
Chateau St. Jean Cabernet
Caymus Cabernet
I had the great pleasure to try Malbec about two years ago at a French Bistro in Manhattan, NY on a weekend out with friends. It was absolutely delicious and I’ve been hooked since but when I am just socializing with friends I enjoy a White Merlot and on occasion stlll a Sauvignon Blanc and a glass of Chianti.
I am looking for the next wine tasting event in NY so that I can attend with friends and make it a picnic.
Oooooh! Depends on the day, the moment, the company, the food. A crisp dry Rose on a picnic, a local Okanagan Reisling with a slice of ripe pear and creamy blue cheese, a zippy New Zealand Sauv Blanc on a hot summer afternoon, bubbly in the hot tub, grilled salmon and an Oregon Pinot Noir….....So much wine, so little time!
Hi Denise,
I had a booth at The Virginia Wine Showcase. Small world. Unfortunately i didn’t get to taste to much as I was manning the booth.
Oh well…...there is always next time!
Cheers,
Helen
My favorites right now are definately a good spicy, hardy, Aussie shiraz and a spicy old vine California Zin.
I am originally from Australia so I am a little biased towards Shiraz.
As for whites I can’t go past a New Zealand Sav. Blanc.
Cheers,
Helen

If anyone looks at Wine Spectator, the September 30 edition has an article about Chateau Monetlelena. This winery in Napa Valley and its owner, Jim Barrett was the subject of the new movie “Bottle Shock.” It’s a great story and worth seeing.
The winery has been sold to a winery in France. It’s sad to see the ending of an era since Chateau Montelena really put Napa Valley on the map but we‘re happy for Jim who is an acquaintance of ours.
If anyone has any chateau Montelena, it may be worth keeping for awhile since it’s changing hands. We have a few bottles of the 2002 and 2004 Cabernet, a bottle of 1986 cabernet and a magnum of their chardonnay signed by Jim (don’t think we’ll be opening that one)
It’s funny, I love dry reds but I usually only like German whites (Reisling, Gewurtztaminer) and only for dessert, but recently I have to have a French Burgundy (white): Poully-Fuisse. I have a bottle of Louis Jadot chilling in the fridge. Mmmm.

This is my opinion. My opinions are in no way representative of those at the company where I work. This is just my opinion.
anything red and a bit spicy! We‘re going to Spain this fall for a few days (art, architecture, and wine) – will be touring a few vineyards in rioja. anyone have any favorites?
I was always a white wine girl. Pinot Grigio’s, Sav.Blanc’s and Vignoles – or any blends like that. But I have become a big fan of Pinot Nior and Merlot. Nice for sipping in the evenings.
A few years ago I tried La Cremas’ Pinot Noir and I was instantly hooked. I also love a good champagne. I’ll drink Pinot Grigio every now and then, but I’m really a red wine fan.
If you like a deeper, spicy-berry flavored red, try an ‘05 7 Deadly Zins from Lodi. If you like a lighter, fruity but not sweet red, try an ‘05 Pinot Noir from Sokol-Blosser winery in Oregon…or check out the Pinot Noirs offered by Willa-Kenzie Estate also in Oregon. The Willamette Valley produces some great Pinots!
I didn’t get to see that article, Chocolatier. I will have to look for it.
Ivenberg, Rioja is one of my favorite places to taste from. They have some wonderful wines…I can’t pick one.
LaCrema is definitely a winner.
7 Deadly Zins are great and the Heavenly are equally as delicious.
I really enjoy a good malbec, pinot noir and most sauvignon blancs.Just got back from the finger lakes where they have many good wineries. My favorites are Dr. Frank Constantine,Heron Hill and Hunt Country. This time tasted at Hunt Country where we enjoy their alchemy ,vignoles and wonderful ice wine.It is a fun trip especilly at this time of the year. There are a few B&Bs to stay at in the area.Bully Hills wines are not as good but its a fun tasting place and great place to have lunch.
One favorite? lol I agree with Coachbeth… it depends on my mood, company, and food.
This summer I was drinking a lot of chardonnay… JLohr, Ramey, Simi… Yumm Chateau-St. Jean…
Recently, I’ve been dabbling in Roses… and Zinfandels… ooh and BOLD cabs…
So one fave… hmmm lol…
I’m definitely a red wine drinker and like to stick with I Pinot Noir because most don’t have any tannin in them. Sometimes I’ll be dangerous and try a zinfandel.
JLohr, Jekel, Cambria,Estancia and Gina are some of my favorites. I like to got to Bev Mo to discover new wines.
I used to have a relative working for Sterling, and I have always been partial to their Chardonnay. I always look forward to November, because it’s Beaujolais Nouveau time!! Georges deBoeuf is the one I usually buy.
Since my daughter-in-law is from Buenos Aires lately I’ve been trying the Malbecs of Argentina. I really like one in particular that she gave me called Luigi Bosca’s Gala 1 and 2.
Other than that I like Pinot Grigio.
I also like the Pinot Grigio Chardonnay blends…I think the name is Oiu Duva?? I don’t know the correct spelling.
I like Saracco Moscato d‘Asti
Cabinet franc ice wine &
Vidal ice wine
especially during the holidays.
I love a good California red. One of my fave’s is Merryvale. Full bodied and smooth.
Wine usually gives me a headache and makes me gassy. Of course, I have discovered as I get older, most everything make me gassy. Must be me!
I had some one time I would love to have again. It was blood-red, sweet, and did not real “bite” to it. (It also did NOT make me gassy!) I had it at a local Italian resturant, no longer around. Any suggestions?
Mad-Dog 20 20 It won’t leave you gassy, girlie. HEHEHEHEHEHE Okay, let me stop. LOL LOL
Girlfriend I wasn’t always a Christian. Before, I was pure heathen. I’ve HAD Maddog 20/20. And PGA. Tastes the same coming up as it did going down!
Most Moscato D‘Astis are delicious! Vidal Ice is great!
Merryvale is a delight.
Sip on ladies!
