Falling through the silky screens
Layers of green toned chiffon
Not strong enough to catch me
Or hold me safe from danger
Earth and fire colliding below me
As the air rushes past my skin
I hear whispers of my fate
And warnings of my death
Don’t sleep – stay conscious and alive
Then unawake and tired frees me from constraint
Too tired to fight
Too tired for strength
Sleepy and dead to the world
What siren voices call me
Off of my cloudy existence
Such pain, such love, such life
Calling me forth from this quiet daydream
Time to fly, little bird
Their voices tear into my ears
Into my heart
And into my soul
No turning back now
Without warning
The fall has begun
Eminent and raw
Shall I now drink of life
In all of its inequities?
Bored now of passive conversations
And immobile passers by
Gone is the light, dreamy state
Like tea parties with stuffed animals
How easy it was to be there.
Now I am falling, twisting and turning
Wildly towards the fire
The fire of life, full of love, heartache, victory and defeat
And I go there with untamed delight

Miss Karen,
Please excuse my late reply to your poem… still trying to find my away around these threads.
I like the way you arrange the light and dark in this piece….feels very dreamlike.
I very much enjoyed this line “Shall I now drink of life“. Such a deep connection to life in this poem, makes the reader think.
Thank you kindly for sharing
Keep well
Nancy
