OOOO the pressure they must feel.
What happens if I become one of those women people avoid on the street because I am having a discussion with the dogs while walking.
Nothing! If the people avoid you, I am sure your having the better conversation anyway. :)
I talk to Max and Cammie constantly. Cammie watches TV. The Dog Whisper Show. I think if she could talk, heck, she would ask me to be quite. Keep talking
LOL I will keep talking, I figure it this way, Orson and Diego have known me a long time, and what happens in my life affects them as well. They have excellent taste in shoes and men.
Are you kidding me ? I always talk to my handsome guy. He always listens when my husband doesn’t.
Are you the crazy lady I saw this morning ? Just Kidding! Its okay, your life, your choice- talk to your dogs as much as you want girlfriend!
Nothing wrong with that at all, they are the best listeners and love it when you talk to them.
I talk to my dogs all the time, and it makes me feel better because I know that I have their full attention (LOL) and they appreciate my time with them.
They are the gift of unconditional love!
Animals thrive on our conversations and so do we. They listen and don’t give us “thats nice dear” or “huh, whadda say?” When was the last time you were someone’s everything?
oh how beautiful! I talk to my dogs all the time! my oldest is a black lab Taz the second is Yellow Lab.. Jake and the third is a black lab Max…and im a grandma to my baby mix dog corona! and you know what .. when my hubby walks in the backyard they just stand there .. when i walk in the backyard everyone imean everyone comes sees me..lol I love that you talk to your dog.. you know what i raised all three by raising them like there children! scold them like children tell them im mad at them and when im not i tell them how much i love them.. my old dog taz gives me hugs after i talk to him… here i thought i was the crazy lady! now i found another lover of animals! im adding you as a friend!
OHHH Sassy!
I know, dogs are totally the BEST. Orson is the guy pictured. He is a Pit bull Mix. He is 14 and it is like living with an old gay man. He is pretty out of control and rules the roost. I have a boyfriend who has NEVER had pets. He now comes over bringing treats. He is a convert!
Dogs know what they know and I love it!
AND yes, I am the woman you have all seen talking to her dogs walking down the street. SHHH don’t laugh.
Time to go for a walk!
I have 2 smooth tri color collies one for me Gem, and one for my husband Grace. I have a pet toy poodle Robin, and one silver and one white female poodles and one silver male. I have a brown maine coone cat, 2 parakeets, 1 luv bird, my daughter has her 2 horses here and we have had cattle, goats sheep chickens ducks turkeys rabbitts etc so My idea of hades is going into a nursing home and leaving my pets!
I talk to my dogs all the time!! I even howl with them.. I have 2 Dachshunds- Milton, who is 14, and Sophie who is 3.. It is so nice to always have dogs lay next to you on the couch.. I cherish my animals!!
So I was waking up this AM in a pleasent state. I feel a body close to my back. I smile thinking that it is my boyfriend. I turn over and to my surprise, it is Diego the dog. His head was on the pillow next to mine. LORD.
Hi Everyone.. or shall I say Woof Woof to all!
I am looking to move back to Los Angeles within the next 6 months or so. I have 2 beautiful and loving German Shepherds who are like kids to me. The difficulty I’m having is in finding rental housing that will accommodate my beautiful babies. I can’t believe how restrictive housing is when you live with pets. Would love some suggestions/ideas/referrals from anyone who can give me a heads up on where to find a rental place that is fido friendly. Most take 1 dog or are picky about the breed or size. Heaven forbid your pup weighs more than 35 pounds!
I don’t want to give them up as they are rescue dogs already and I committed to take care of them for their lifetime. I sure wish more people understood the value of committment… especially when adopting animals.
Thanks all!
Maybe the animal care centers know of pet friendly housing in decent neighborhoods??
My boys, Reggie and Billy, are the best friends a woman could want. Sweet and funny, and Reggie watches TV with me. Once, we watched White Fang together and I swear he was crying at the end with me! Dogs rule!
I talk to my dogs and they answer back. My daughter’s friends ask her for updates on Brighton’s and Lubie’s latest witticisms. Brighton, an escapee from the pound, is especially interesting.
What a joy our little furry friends are! At our house, we call it BICHON HEAVEN!!!!! I’ve had friends get bichons too b/c ours are so sweet. I need to get them all together for one big picture and a BICHON BIRTHDAY!!! They look like a little flock of sheep!
This is Ozzy he’s an 18mo old Rottie. He’s a big BABY!! I love him Sooo Much.
And those are my 2 little girls Sophie 6yrs and Baby 8yrs, They all love mama’s bed.
I am a first time dog owner but have had cats my whole life. I talk to them like they are my children. I also now talk to my dog and if people think I’m crazy, OH WELL! I swear they talk back at times too! My mom talks to plants so she helps to make me feel normal.
YAY!
You guys I love all of the photos and the posts.
HOW great.
All of your pets are so beautiful.
MORE. MORE!
My 3 year old lab is one of my best friends. I love it when she tilts her head and perks her ears when I talk to her. I know then that she is really listening, even if it is for certain words like go, ride or treat. They are soo smart.
My poodles, Bridgette is 3 yrs old & Bonnie is almost 2 yrs old, are the bosses of the house. We recently went through a hard time with our daughter who went through that rebellious stage. Bridgette was there with me everystep of the way. I have thanked God so many times for my precious babies. Keep talking to those special little people!
Hi oakie I used to breed and show poodles in UKC. In 2004 I had number 4 poodle in the nation. My health went bad so I have 3 females and one male who along with 2 smooth collies and a main coon cat share my home with my husband and myself
We have 5 dogs (sadly, soon to be 4). Four greyhounds and a toy poodle with an “attitude” (he’s the oldest at 15 and going strong).
We adopted our first greyhound (Mandy) about 8 years ago. Shadow came home about 4 months later. Onyx 3 years after that (he was a rehome, removed from a family that was badly neglecting him, he was 8 years old at the time). And Rowdy (aka Rowdy Roo Roo) came home in March 2008 having just retired from the race track. We had pre-adopted Rowdy the day he was born and waited the 2 1/2 years until he retired from racing to bring him home.
We also have another pre-adopted greyhound, TJ, who is almost ready to start his racing career. He turned 1 year old in April. He’ll be coming home too once he is done his racing career.
As you can tell, we fell in love with the breed immediately and we are now involved in greyhound adoption. Through our greyhound involvement, we have met and become good friends with many people throughout the states and canada.
Can you tell we Love Our Dogs? I talk to them all the time and they thrive on the attention; and it does me lots of good too.
My beautiful American Stafford Shire Terrier passed away last year and I miss him so much. My hubby has tried to take me to get a new puppy but I keep expecting this new dog to have the traits of my Cato. Of course he doesn’t and I’ left broken again. Is it even fair to bring another dog info my life while I’m still mourning?? Here is my puppy which is now with my sister. I just felt guilty keeping him.
I think dogs become as great as they do because they live with us.
It is a relationship that grows.
just like any lasting relationship.
Hang out with a new dog. Get to know each other, tell him all about your first puppy love moment, he will understand.
Your right. I do need to move on and get another dog because I’m driving my hubby and kids crazy. I’m a night person and the only person who could hang with me was Cato. We would go for mid-night walks and I would talk to him for hours. I swear he could understand me and sometimes would put his paw on my leg as if to say, “Don’t worry, it will be all right“.
OK…I’ll put some effort into it. I’ll start looking again next weekend .
Hi guys in order to support my pets (lol) I wrote my first novel called Forever Promised. Have you ever wished to be anywhere but where you are now? Be Careful. That is exactly what nurse Geri Lanham did as she was assisting the doctor in taking her favorite patient off life support. Something goes terribly wrong and she finds herself in the year 1888! Contending with time travel was bad enough but an onery, albiet handsome sherrif wants to put a noose around her slender neck. Accusing her of murder. Sherrif Andrew Robinson’s ordered world was black and white with no room for gray areas until he makes a slender green eyed beauty his prisoner. Ger finds that once a promise is made from the heart it can transcend time to be forever promised.
check it out online Barnes and Nobles, Amazon and www.ForeverPromised.com
I totally agree. Pets are the best listeners and they just adore our attention. They are great sounding boards as well. Mine think they are human….I treat them like they are kings….they deserve it.
Hello Warrior Princess! I know how you feel, except I lost my cat that was the love of my life! Read A MEMORIAL FOR OUR LOVED ONES & you’ll see. I cried the whole time I was writing it!
