Hi Ladies…So wonderful to find this post to share….I use to model for magazines and did some TV work…well, that was years ago when I was young and beautiful…..I remember someone telling me, (a guy I was dating), well, he told me that by the time I’m 35, I’ll be fat and ugly! Well, he was wrong….by the time I was 46, I was fat and ugly!.....I had my last child at 38 (my 4th), and she finally did me in with the weight issue and I’ve been adding a few pounds each year since…...OK, so on with what I’ve recently done to loose it…...I joined a gym! I’m doing yoga classes and walking on the tread mill 2.5 miles every other day. I’m eating salads, fruits, veggies while I cook for my family, so that by the time dinner is served, I’m not hungry..(this was the hardest part, not eating what the family is eating)....No more cakes, desserts….No More Ben and Jerry’s late at night watching TV!!! On Friday nights, I treat myself to any meal I want, so date nights with my husband are extra special now:) I didn’t notice a difference until 3 weeks passed into joining the gym, and was just about to give up, then BANG! The weight started inching down…..I actually had another cheerleading mom look at me and say “You’ve lost weight….You’ve lost ALOT of weight“, though I was perturbed at the way she said it, I was also excited that it’s even obvious! After your 3rd week, there will be no more cravings and it will become part of your lifestyle….PROMISE! I’m going for a full 45lbs before Christmas and I know I’ll do it!!!..Make youself sitcky notes on the computer, kitchen cabinets, Refrigerator!...Post those pictures of yourself that you hate everywhere! I use to put one on the treadmill and it gave me great inspiration!!!....Good Luck Ladies! It’s the hardest thing you’ll ever do, but it is the most rewarding thing you’ll do for yourselves!!!.......Take Care…..Sunnie t.
I needed to here this today. This was very motivating for me. Congratulations!!!
Very awesome! Congrats!
I have noticed that drinking lemon juice and cranberry juice helps too. I boil half of mug of water in the mornings, and fill it up with lemon juice. This is an acquired taste, but it seems to do something. I love the cabbage soup and have noticed that will make a quick weight loss happen. Note that if you cabbage soup it and do not have discipline afterwards, the weight of course comes back. In your case, sounds like you are very disciplined, and would not fall into temptations after losing weight rapidly. Best of luck with you! – Tuula
I need to lose weight myself. I joined a gym and go as often as I can, plus I try to daily take a break from the office and go for a walk. I don’t know if I’ve lost very many pounds, but I tried on a pair of my pants that are two sizes smaller than what I’ve been wearing; they were tight, but I got them on buttoned and zipped!! That made me want to keep going until they are lose on me. I know one thing, drink lots of water. When I think I’m hungry, I also drink water first and see if that cures the craving. Good luck to everyone! I’m cheering you on.
How awsome for you!!!! Congratulations!.Getting active is the key to losing weight! Almost 3 months ago I had bypass surgery and was told I needed to lose weight. I lost 20 over the course of my recovery before I started a cardiac rehab program. I now go 3 days a week and have lost 12 lbs over 4 weeks. It keeps me motivated to eat better and try to get my family to make smart food choices.
Well, I have AT LEAST 20 pounds to shed. I’m 5‘1” and weigh in at 149 pounds. My petite frame doesn’t allow ANY hiding this. I’m very discouraged right now. I recently purchased a house. Since June 25th, I have packed, lifted boxes, moved boxes & furniture, unpacked, cleaned, painted, done yardwork, steamed cleaned 6 rooms of carpet and climbed the stairs in my new home at least 100 times! I went from a 760 sq ft house, watching TV every night with no exercise to a 1600 sq ft house with a basement, working my butt off EVERY night and EVERY weekend for 4 months. I didn’t change my eating habits during this time but I certainly burned TONS of extra calories. I am just now allowing myself to stop long enough to watch some TV. From June 25 to October 30th I lost a grand total of 3 pounds and I think I gained those back this week!!! I just don’t get it!!! Any advice/comments from you guys???
A big congrats to you Sunniethoughts!! I know with your positive attitude you’ll reach your goals!

Sweetnsassy- I know how you feel! Of course you were burning up tons of calories, and it should have showed more on the scale… but I wonder if you didn’t lose inches and fat instead? I bet your clothes are loser and you are so busy, you just aren’t noticing it yourself.
I was starting to feel discouraged because I keep losing & gaining the same five pounds ( and I need to lose at least 45 more)... then today I stepped on the scale and while I’d only lost 1.5 pounds, my body fat was down 4.5 points!
I was thrilled! So I got off my well padded bottom and laced up my shoes and walked. I live on a rural street and one day hope to be able to walk all the way up the hill and back… today it was a third of the way up and back. Pedometer says that was 1.18 miles… I’m jazzed!
Have a great week everyone!

Hi ladies. Nice to meet you all. I work with a lot of women struggling with weight and getting in shape as a Pilates and strength training instructor, and a fitness/health enthusiast all my life. While it may seem like an uphill battle, the payoffs are certainly worth the effort in terms of how you look and feel about yourself. I strive to get my clients to a point where they love THEMSELVES, not compare themselves to the latest and greatest magazine cover out there. My recommendation always for those seeking to ease their appetite and optimize their weight loss/control potential is to use muscle-fueling, immune-enhancing whey protein that is as close as one can get to raw milk (with no processing or high-heat pasteurization).
I welcome you to discover what I feel is the Secret to a Better Body at www.betterbodypresentation.com. Open the pdf and flip the slides. Or if you don’t have a PDF reader, you can visit www.wheytowellness.com and click on the link there. I wish you all the best in health & wellness!
May your mind be peaceful, your heart hopeful, your body healthful, and your life successful in the ways you find most important.
ismilefirst – That’s a great point. I’ve had a few people comment on my weight loss so maybe you‘re right. It’s possible I’ve looked to the numbers on the scales too much for my victory. Thanks for your input—- You’ve made me feel much better about my 3 pounds! And CONGRATS TO YOU on your walking. That’s wonderful!!! Maybe I’ll just put my “tennies” on and hit the road as well. Keep us posted on your progress!
sweetnsassy- you are welcome! Thanks for your encouragement too… I’ll Bowflex tonight and walk again in the morning… I’m like the little engine that could….. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can… LOL
Have a great night!

Congratulations on all the hard work, ladies! “Ismilefirst,” do you like your Bowflex? My husband and I are discussing getting one. I go to a gym, but I think it would be great to change things up, for the days I can’t get to the gym, or just when I want some extra workout. It gets discouraging, I know, as I do not see my weight going down, but I was able to get a size smaller jeans. Keep up the pace!
I can vouch for the Bowflex – I’ve tried tons of fitness equipment in my life and it far surpasses them all for home gym workouts. Hope that helps. It’s DEFINITELY worth the investment, as LONG as you use it : -) I use it all the time, and work out my clients on it. They love it, and the resistance rods minimize injuries.
May your mind be peaceful, your heart hopeful, your body healthful, and your life successful in the ways you find most important.
You go gir‘frin(s)!!! Losing weight is tough but we‘re tougher, right??? I still have all my Weight Watcher books so all I have to do is get them out, get motivated, and DO IT! My goal is to shed 10 pounds by Christmas. That gives me seven weeks. Want to join me in the effort??
Amen to losing weight is tough when you are cooking for the family.
I am doing a modified lo-carb plan and have lost 28lbs since July. Thankfully hubby is doing it with me so that helps.
I am all for the 10 lbs by Christmas.
okie428- I love my Bowflex! When we first got it I used it faithfully and within a few weeks I started seeing a huge difference in the way my clothes fit. The moms at car-rider started asking me what diet I was following. LOL
After 5.5 months I was down several sizes, had lost over 20 inches overall and was almost to my goal, and then life happened and I got side tracked.
Like doglovin said, Buying a Bowflex is worth the investment if you use it.
Good Luck!

Thanks for sharing! I hope we get to get one in the near future. Ditto…. I’m all for losing 10 pounds by Christmas.
Ok girls! Let’s do it!! How’s the progress??? Everyone motivated??? I’m getting there and have my “moments” of motivation. I got a little side tracked because I made my honey cookies then went to steak house for dinner—- and there were these yummy rolls (other than those on my tummy) lol But now, back on track: A Weight Watchers leader once said: “NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING THIN FEELS“. This is so true and I have to remember that when I’m tempted. I want to hear from you!
Congratulations to all of you and your weight loss!! I have lost 40 lbs, gained 30 back, lost 20 again….have 10 more to go…. Does this sound familiar??? I am a yoyo. Everytime I loose it…I say to myself…I WILL NOT gain it back. All I have to do is let my guard down…and shazam/poof…it’s back. I think online sisterly help will be a good thing! You all are amazing women, even with the extra lbs to love. But I do know that I just feel better on the inside and out, without the extra baggage!
Congrats to all of you ladies. I am struggling and your posts are encouraging. Keep them coming!
Allow the miracles!
Thanks ladies for your encouraging words. It keeps me going. Even with a new job and long hours, it encourages me to go to the gym and not snack as much. Keep pushing on… Together, we can ALL do it! (also that one size smaller jeans helps…)
Girls, I haven’t done too well with this weight loss thing. I’m considering joining Weight Watchers (again!). I’m not self motivated so I desperatly need the motivational meetings and someone to hold me accountable!
I don’t like paying the $40 a month but it’s better than being “frumpy“! I HAVE TO get serious about these extra 25 pounds that keep me from enjoying life to the fullest. I know it’s healthy & they offer a plan I can live with. Can I get your best “atta girl!” ???
SweetnSassy, Dennie & all,
I just started a coaching group called Lean For Life. It turns some ‘dieting’ concepts on their heads, but lets face it – the stats don’t look good when you look at all the money spent on low fat, low cal, and low carb diets and watch the obesity numbers rise.
Come over and read through the posts. http://fabulously40.com/ I wish I could put up a sticky that says read this first, and then list off which ones to read in what order. Anybody know how to do this?
My plan is to start a cheerleader call this coming week.
I have lost over 40lbs. I have been a health nut for many years, but used my babies as an excuse to pack on the extra matronly pounds. Hitting 40 was a turning point for me. I don’t do anything halfway. I got certified as a Perfect Body Shape Fat Loss coach, and began the process of certification for Genetic Key coaching. Nothing makes you be more accountable than to stand in front of everyone while you are losing yourself! :) The key is to not look at it like a diet. Diets don’t work long term. There is a whole post dedicated to the yoyo effect!
Hard work and dedication! Good job!

I wish I had your determination! You will definitely reach your goal! I gained 15 pounds 4 years ago and have told myself over and over again that I am gonna tone up but have been too lazy to do it! I am gonna use you advice and start leaving sticky notes around the house for myself! Thanks for the encouraging words!
Congrats to you! I love using visualization as my inspiration it makes you work even harder.
The scale is not moving this week, but I have faith… I know if I keep walking every other day, eating healthy foods, etc.. I’m going to start to feel it in my clothing… but, if I hear one more person say ” I’ve lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks“, or something like that I just may scream…... why can’t I do that??
Sorry ladies, just had to vent!
