My husband used to live in South Carolina. He loved the sauce he got from Maurice’s. We had some bottles in the pantry and they were past the expiration date so I thought I’d make my own. I went online and found a recipe. I made it and when he walked in the house he couldn’t believe how the smell took him back.

      1 C yellow mustard
      1 C vinegar
      1/4 C sugar
      1/4 C brown sugar
      1 T worcestershire sauce

Simmer it all together until it’s thickened and reduced.

It’s great on chicken and pork.

So, does anyone know, what exactly is the history of yellow barbeque sauce?

        • Maurice’s BBQ….yep….right up the road…in Columbia.
I would be glad to send you some…...but I’m sure yours was just as good or even better Cynthia.

Now my brother in law….I will have to say..makes the best BBQ and BBQ sauce.  When they have their 4th of July on Lake Thurmond each year…they have over 100 people to attend.  Everyone else brings a side dish and he makes the BBQ, hash, and sauce.  I swear it’s the best.  They even have friends from Ohio who drive down just for that BBQ.

Be glad to send you the Maurice’s..if you ever want it…

        • Sounds delicous.  I love BBQ all kinds, rubs, sauces from everywhere.

In Texas we have a place where I especially love the sauce made no where else.  From Unferminted Moon Shine.

Called deadwood sauce.  Its in Cathage Texas called Daddy Sams… if your ever passing through stop and get a couple of Gallons.. Deadwood sauce is soooo good.

It wont get you drunk… just fat.
