STARTING A BUSINESS WITH MY SISTER!
That’s what I did five years ago. I remember how it happened. It’s a question we get asked by our customers all the time and this is how it started….

We were constantly looking for healthier alternatives in skin care, cosmetics and spa products for ourselves, and not finding them, even at our local health food stores.I mean all we were asking for was Paraben free, (our mother was battling breast cancer), clean, safe cosmetics that made our skin look amazing, (Dori with her Rosacea and me with my large pores),oh yeah, nice salon packaging too.  

Since we couldn’t find it, we decided to would make it!
We both love to research, so that’s exactly what we did when first becoming interested in making safe beauty products. We soon found ourselves sitting at the computer each day for the first few months, for hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours. We became obsessed.

Together we scraped up some money, we didn’t have much, but enough. Next, we ordered some raw materials and started formulating in small batches. All those hours of researching really helped us figure out the basics we needed in order to produce a successful cosmetic line. That and a few of our creative ideas led to our finished products that were ready for us to test.  

We were going to be picky, our standards were high and we excepted a lot from our products. With many adjustment’s and additions we were happy with our results. I mean really Happy.

At one point I said to my sister “I think we should start our own cosmetic company“.
I know she thought I was crazy, but she went along with it anyway.

Our family and friends became our “test monkeys’ which they didn’t mind, in fact they loved it. Soon word got out about our products and women were knocking at my door asking if they could buy some.

That was five years ago, we named our business Terra Firma Cosmetics, moved to a large manufacturing facility at the Port Of Raymond, and now we have an extensive line of all natural, paraben free, loose mineral cosmetics,skin care and spa products.
