  • The Non Made-up Makeup Look

Posted on Monday, November 10, 2008

I realize that she is a baby, but its never to late to perfect the non-makeup look. At 16, Disney sweetheart Selena Gomez is looking perfectly adorable and perfectly age appropriate! The star of hit Disney show, “Wizards of Waverly Place” is definitely catching the attention of the world these days! Her makeup here is natural, mininmal but still polished and pulled together. To get this look at home, here are some Nicciknows suggestions:

    1) Start by priming skin with Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfector ($57.50 at Sephora.com). Next use a lightweight, perfecting foundation like Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15 ($38 at Sephora.com). Set makeup with a light, transluscent powder such as Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($34 at Sephora.com.

    2) Cheeks are very soft and peachy. Take Smashbox’s Blush Rush, the new formula in the shade Paradise ($24 at Sephora.com) and apply to the apples of the cheeks, sweeping upward towards the ears for a lift.

    3) Eyebrows are defined using a powder definer such as Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo ($22 at Sephora.com).

    4) Eyeshadow is neutral. Take MAC Powder Eyeshadow in Kid ($14.50 at MAC Cosmetics) at apply lightly all over the lid. Eyes can be lined with a liquid eyeliner such as Face Stockholm Precision Eyeliner in Black ($36 at Face Stockholm)  and lashes should be defined with a mascara such as Clinique Lash Power Mascara in Black ($14 at Sephora.com).

    5)  Lips are flesh-toned. Try ck Calvin Klein beauty lip liner in Honest ($15 at Sephora.com) and then follow with Nars lipstick in Blonde Venus ($24 at Sephora.com). Finish off the look with a clear lipgloss such as Estee Lauder High Shine Lipgloss in Clear ($16 at Nordstrom).

  • My Lips are Blushing

Posted on Monday, November 3, 2008

I am loving these Pixi Lip Blush lip stains! Sheer, full pigment lip stains that come in adorable, wearable colors make these the perfect item to wear to the gym, to bed or to throw on in the morning before your new man wakes up! Hehe. Lip stains are great because they deliver subtle, natural color  that wears all day and never looks “made-up.” Worn under lipstick, lipgloss or alone, these are also a perfect holiday gift!

Pixi is a brand created by two Swedish sisters, Petra and Sofia. They opened their first Pixi boutique in London and have risen to international fame. The brand is feminine, natural and fun. Pixi by Petra has just launched in Target stores nationwide.  The Lip Blush is available for $18 at Target

  • Amazing New Liquid Eyeliner

Posted on Friday, October 31, 2008

The new Precision Eyeliner from Face Stockholm is the best liquid eyeliner I have ever tried. The tip is a perfect length and width. It allows for a flawless application every time. The liquid dispenses automatically for consistant color. To apply swipe it lightly across the upper lashline. The tiny tip will apply just the perfect amount of product and stay put all day.

Many brands have tried, but no one has done it quite this well. This is definitely a must-have!

Available for $36 at Face Stockholm.

  • A Product Called Product

Posted on Monday, October 27, 2008

Product is the name of this all natural hair styling aide. It is fabulous and is made with just five organic and plant derived ingredients, all of which we can pronounce; Shea butter, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Beeswax and Fragrance. It can be used on damp or dry hair by taking a pea-sized amount, liquefying between fingertips and then running through hair. The result is a de-frizzed, shiny, texturized look that gives a bit of hold but doesn’t weigh down the hair.

In this economy, we are all looking for products that are effective, environmentally conscious and not too hard on the pocketbook. At $14, this “Product” meets and exceeds expectations. You can pick some product up at Product’s website (www.thenameisproduct.com). Enjoy!

  • Long Wear for Only a Short Time

Posted on Friday, October 24, 2008

This new palette from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is amazing. Available for a limited time only, the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eye Palette ($55 at Nordstrom or Macys) is nothing short of a necessity! It comes in two color choices, the Moon Rock and Night Sky Palette  come with two long-wear cream eyeshadows and two long wear gel eyeliners, and a handy two-sided brush for application.

The long wear cream shadows are multi-functional, serving as an eyeshadow base or an eyeshadow and the gel eyeliners can double as as cream eyeshadow when creating a smoky eye. Here’s how: take the thicker brush side and apply the gel eyeliner all over the lower lid of the eye as well as underneath the eye. A little goes a long way so start with just a little bit of product and blend well. Next, take a fluffier eyeshadow brush like the #224 from MAC ($28 at Nordstrom or Macys)  and blend into the crease, creating a long lasting airbrushed smoky eye. Enjoy!
